The Family Man Season 2 is out and as expected, it has turned out to be a complete entertainer. In this Bollywood Hungama special feature, we bring to you a list of 23 scenes in the web series that were either thrilling or raised a lot of laughs. Please note that there are spoilers in this article.
1. The arrest of Subbu at Sri Ventakeswara Lodge
The first episode lacked the thrill initially. And it is in this sequence when audiences finally get their dose of excitement. What added to the fun was not just how Subbu (Srikrishna Dayal) got captured but also how Srikant Tiwari (Manoj Bajpayee), who had quit TASC, gives the much needed help so that the operation can be completed with minimal violence.
2. Srikant and Suchi at the counsellor
The trailer had given a glimpse that this scene will be a riot. Thankfully, the makers didn’t divulge everything in the promo and hence, audiences couldn’t help but laugh at the way things unfold at this juncture.
3. Raji attacks the molester
It was a predictable scene. One anticipates that the molester will have to pay a heavy price for sexually harassing Raji (Samantha Akkineni). Yet, when the expected actually happens, one is still amazed. It gives a huge indication that Raji is very well prepared for any eventuality.
4. Suchi gets a birthday surprise in the morning
This scene is hardly a few minutes long but is too funny. What enhances the laughter is Atharv’s (Vedant Sinha) futile effort to play the Happy Birthday song on his instrument.
5. Suchi’s birthday dinner with Srikant
Again, we knew that the ‘sham’ dialogue is going to occur in this sequence. Yet, the war of words between the two is very well scripted and executed.
6. Srikant quits the job
The way Tanmay Ghosh (Kaustubh Kumar) was harassing Srikant, it was clear he’ll have to pay a heavy price. And when it actually happens, it turns out to be one of the funniest scenes ever! This is a scene where one wishes if The Family Man Season 2 was a film. It would have been a different experience to watch this scene on a big screen and laugh collectively with hundreds of moviegoers.
7. Raji’s boss comes to meet Raji at her place
It is a jaw-dropping sequence and adds to the fear perception around Raji. At the same time, one gets a glimpse of the terrible times that she has gone through and the reason why she has become such a hardened person.
8. Muthu Pandian and Milind Hinduja change radio stations
No dialogues are exchanged here. It is a bit silly as well. Milind (Sunny Hinduja) threatens a fellow TASC member with a gun and it is obvious the former wouldn’t have fired a shot. Yet, it is helmed so nicely that it turns out to be one of the most memorable scenes of the series.
9. Inspector Umayal meets Raji at her residence
This is where Devadarshini Chetan (Umayal) almost catches Raji. Most viewers would have thought that Raji’s game is up. However, she smartly gets out of the situation despite the garbage bag in her hand (containing the dead body of her boss). And Raji’s dialogue at this point – "If women started speaking out, all men would be in jail. And then, nobody would give us jobs" – is praiseworthy.
10. Srikant and JK in jail
Audiences would have difficulty controlling their laughter at this juncture. The makers also raise an interesting point here – what happens when different forces, responsible for the safety of the country, get into trouble with each other.
11. Drama at Point Pedro
The manner in which Raji and Sajid (Shahab Ali) along with Jebaraj attempt to locate the point where they had buried the explosives in Sri Lanka and retrieve it is intriguing. Sadly, things don’t go as planned for Raji and it adds to the madness.
12. The chase sequence leading to
My heartbeat got faster in this scene as it’s so gripping. And the makers do justice to Raji’s character completely especially by showing how difficult it was to pin her.
13. Raji’s chilling investigation scene
Srikant here tries his usual tactic and lies to Raji that his one-year-old son Vaibhav died during a terror attack. Raji retorts by narrating her own experience and in the end also adds that her story is a real one. Raji is badass number 1!
14. Raji’s dramatic escape from the police station
This scene is rocking not just because of the way the rebels attack the police station and set Raji free but also because it’s shot in one take. Mindblowing effort!
15. Sajid bids aideu to Raji
The bond between Sajid and Raji is handled sensitively and delicately. The moment where Sajid tells Raji that he has never seen a soldier like her and that it was a pleasure working with her is sweet. This is where Raji shows her soft side but albeit only to an extent.
16. Arvind calls Srikant
One hates Srikant at this point as he doesn’t pick Suchi’s call at a time when Dhriti has gone missing. Finally, Suchi has to make Arvind (Sharad Kelkar) call him from his own number. How Srikant instantly realizes that something has gone wrong instantly enhances tension. Even here, Raj-DK attempt to add humour when Arvind addresses himself as Suchi’s friend. Knowing the tension between the couple, he rectifies and says that he’s Suchi’s colleague!
17. Classmates describe Dhriti
Srikant meets Dhriti’s classmates after she’s kidnapped and the way they describe her is seen to be believed. One student labels Dhriti as Feminazi while the other tells that Dhriti used to call town residents as capitalist baboons. One more student informs Srikant that she called the judges of a contest as sexist a**holes! This was a masterstroke of a scene and only Raj and DK could have thought of something like this!
18. Madness at the Tigris airstrip
As luck would have it, Muthu Pandian (Ravindra Vijay) and JK arrive at the Tigris airstrip where the explosive-laden aircraft was parked. Sadly, the ‘caretaker’ doesn’t allow them to search the premises without a warrant. Muthu sends his team to fetch the warrant. Sadly, it takes them a couple of hours and they have no choice but to wait. How JK finds out about the explosives and what happens next is terrific.
19. Dhriti kills Kalyan
This came out as a bolt from the blue and is the most violent scene of the series. But it seems completely justified and makes one wonder what will happen next.
20. Dhriti’s rescue
My heart was in my mouth till the time Dhriti was kidnapped. And when she finally got rescued, I heaved a sigh of relief and I so wanted to applaud loudly!
21. Srikant meets JK in the ICU
JK is grievously injured. But his concerned side and also his sarcasm are intact; it puts a smile on viewers’ faces.
22. Action at the airstrip
This was yet another one-take shot and gives a fitting end to the mission.
23. The heroes are told to return their medals
Raj and DK again show their brilliance here as they enlighten viewers that the medals given in felicitation ceremonies are to be returned instantly. Also, Srikant and JK being awarded just Rs. 1 lakh (out of which 10% will be deducted as TDS) makes one wonder – these agents go out of the way to protect the country; can’t the government handsomely reaward them at least?
