Global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who is busy with the promotions of her upcoming series Citadel, has been making headlines consistently, both in India and abroad. From her explosive interview with Dax Shephard on his podcast Armchair Expert to her appearance at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre opening, the actress has been a constant presence in the media. Now, ahead of the release of Citadel, the actress said that she will not be ‘sidelined’ in Hollywood because she is a good actor. She also claimed that she didn’t audition for Citadel.
It all happened during her interaction with The Tribune India, where PeeCee discussed Indian representation in Hollywood films. She asserted, “We produce more than a thousand movies in India every year. Our technicians are world-class, our technicians are hired by Hollywood to do a lot of their work because we are good at our jobs. But yet we are sidelined.”
The ‘Desi Girl’ revealed that she did not audition for Citadel, and added, “An actor like me, who has enjoyed being a leading lady in Bollywood, I know my job and will not be sidelined when I audition. I will be good because I’m a good actor. I will win the job like I did for Quantico because I’m good at my job and I’m not underconfident.”
As she continued, Priyanka said, “I’m developing multiple shows with them that not only star Indian faces but also have Indian faces behind the camera, women behind the camera, writers and directors. I want to be able to influx Hollywood with brown faces because I know how talented we are and how much we deserve to be on the world stage.”
The 40-year-old actress concluded her take by saying, “It will take time but I’m not scared of it and I’m very hopeful that in the next five years, you’ll see a very changing landscape.”
Talking about Citadel, it is executive produced by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO and showrunner David Weil, and stars Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra, with Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville. The first season of the groundbreaking global series consists of six episodes, with two episodes premiering on April 28 on Prime Video India, and one episode rolling out weekly through May 26.
