Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan was honoured as the Indian of the Year 2023, acknowledging his stellar contributions to cinema with blockbusters like Pathaan and Jawan, along with the success of Dunki. In a poignant 10-minute speech in New Delhi on Wednesday night, Khan shared insights into his journey over the last few years, reflecting on both triumphs and challenges. Following his speech, Shah Rukh Khan had the sweetest interaction with legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam, with whom SRK had worked on Dil Se. It gave the iconic song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ which is now synonymous with SRK.
Mani Ratnam was also honoured with the Indian of the Year 2023 award. The interaction between SRK and Mani was hilarious. As News18 reported, he said, “Mani sir, what now? It’s all come out in the open now. I’m requesting you – I’m begging you – I’m telling you every time! Do a film with me, I swear, I will dance on top of a plane on ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’, if you’d tell me.”
To this, Mani Ratnam said that he would work with Shah Rukh Khan if he bought a plane. To this, SRK quipped, “Mani, the way my films are going…this plane is not far away. I’m coming!”

Towards the end of the speech, he joked, “Thank you, Mani Sir, for the film! March, I’ll be there, sir. Morning shift, 2 pm.”
