There's a new superhero in Gotham city. After the exit of Ruby Rose, Batwoman makers roped in Javicia Leslie to play the lead in the second season. She will essay the role of new caped-crusader, Ryan Wilder.

Recently, the actress took to her Instagram to unveil the first look of her character dressed in Batsuit costume. "Look out, Gotham. I’m suited up and ready to go,” she wrote. “But just wait until Ryan Wilder puts her own spin on the Batsuit."

“I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community,” Leslie earlier said in a statement to Variety.

Batwoman actress Ruby Rose announced her exit from the TV series in May and said that she will no longer play the role of Kate Keen / Batwoman. She was also very welcoming of Javicia Leslie after the official announcement was made. "OMG!! This is amazing!! I am so glad Batwoman will be played by an amazing Black woman. ❤️ I want to congratulate Javicia Leslie on taking over the bat cape. You are walking into an amazing cast and crew. I can’t wait to watch season 2 you are going to be amazing !!," she wrote on Instagram.

Batwoman aired in October 2019 on CW as the story progressed with the aftermath of Batman's disappearance. Her character Kate Kane takes over the charge to protect Gotham City. Currently, the series is being filmed in Vancouver.
