Sushmita Sen opens up about “Gold Digger” trolling; says, “There are certain things that are nobody's business”

Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen has always been known for her grace, talent, and confidence. However, her personal life has often been under scrutiny, and when rumours of her dating Lalit Modi surfaced, it sparked a frenzy on social media, with some labelling her as a “gold digger.” In response to the derogatory comments, Sushmita recently spoke up, firmly asserting her independence and dismissing the irrelevant gossip.

In a candid interaction with Zoom, the actress addressed the issue, acknowledging that the negative comments had indeed reached her. However, she expressed that she doesn't consider such remarks as insults, and they hold no power over her. The actress said, “It's good that those comments came to me and I could define 'gold digger'. An insult is an insult when you receive it, which I don't. But there are certain things that are nobody's business.”

Setting an example of grace under pressure, Sushmita stated that she is currently single and chooses not to let baseless gossip affect her. She revealed that some individuals from the film fraternity had approached her, expressing surprise that she even responded to the trolling. To this, Sushmita firmly reiterated her stance, asserting that she decides how and when to address such matters.

Last year, Sushmita Sen addressed the “gold digger” trolling through an empowering post on her Instagram. In the heartfelt message, she affirmed that she values herself and her worth beyond material possessions. She wrote, “I dig deeper than Gold…and I’ve always (famously) preferred Diamonds! And yes I still buy them myself!!!”

On the professional front, was last seen in the second instalment of Disney+Hotstar’s popular web series Aarya. The actress has already begun working on the third season. Besides this web show, she has another web series in her kitty, titled Taali. Sen will be seen essaying the transgender activist Gauri Sawant in an upcoming show. The actress made the official announcement of the same in October last year. The biopic will be created by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar, helmed by National award-winning director Ravi Jadhav, and produced by Arjun Singgh Baran, Kartk D Nishandar & Afeefa Nadiadwala.
