Actress Ameesha Patel, who will be seen in the sequel to her 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, recently spoke about the film and its legacy. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha not only expressed her excitement but also gave an insight into the making of the film.
Ameesha Patel shared the journey of the long-awaited film Gadar 2, comparing it to the beloved Titanic, emphasizing the audience's desire to see the same characters and actors. The talks for the sequel had been ongoing for a couple of years, with continuous efforts to find a suitable story. In 2018, Ameesha and Sunny Deol discussed the possibility of Gadar 2 at the Delhi airport, and while progress was made, there was a lapse in communication.
Eventually, in 2019, it was confirmed that Gadar 2 would start filming in March 2020. However, the outbreak of COVID-19 disrupted the plans, and the project was put on hold amidst the uncertainties and challenges faced by the film industry. Despite the setbacks, Ameesha expressed gratitude that the film is finally reaching the point of release, bringing joy to the cast and fans alike.
She late added that finally the makers made an official announcement and now, after waiting for two months, Gadar 2 is set to see the light of day in cinemas.
Directed by Anil Sharma, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer will be released on August 11. The film will also feature Utkarsh Sharma (who also played their son two decades ago) as Jeete. The film is expected to be set in the 70s India, twenty years after Tara Singh and Sakeena reunited in the 2001 film.
