Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah created a stir with his surprising confession about utilizing his Filmfare trophies as a door handle for the washroom in his farmhouse. This revelation has sparked diverse reactions from internet users and celebrities alike. Following Naseer's surprising revelation regarding his Filmfare trophies, Manoj Bajpayee responded by expressing his admiration for the awards, stating that Filmfare is like a dream to him. This was perceived by some as a subtle dig at Naseer. However, Manoj has now clarified the situation, putting to rest any speculation of a potential war of words between the two actors.

Manoj had stated to Times Now, “Filmfare has always been like a dream to me. I have grown up watching Filmfare and I used to enjoy watching it. People getting recognition is an amazing part being done there. Filmfare is like one of the biggest moments of pride and achievement. It is the most valuable part.”

Kya yaar ! Please listen to what I said in response to what’s my memory of filmfare awards! It was not an answer to anyone! https://t.co/Stp7hADGLw — manoj bajpayee (@BajpayeeManoj) June 7, 2023

Now, taking to Twitter Manoj wrote, “Kya yaar ! Please listen to what I said in response to what’s my memory of filmfare awards! It was not an answer to anyone!”

Following this he shared another tweet saying, “Meri aukaat nahi ki main Naseer bhai se uunchi aawaz mein bhi baat kar paun! Kya-kya samachaar kahaan kahaan se.”

In an interview with Lallantop, Naseeruddin Shah talked about how much he dislikes these award ceremonies and why he thinks it is ‘unfair’ to judge an actor’s skill. He said, “Any actor who has put their life and effort into portraying a role is a good actor. If you just pick one person from the lot and say that ‘this is the best actor of the year’, how’s it fair? I am not proud of those awards. I did not even go collect the last two awards I received. So, when I built a farmhouse, I decided to put these awards there. Whoever goes to the washroom will get two awards each as the handles are made of the Filmfare awards.”

He continued by stating that he has received awards because of lobbying and not because of his performance. He added, “I don’t find any value in these trophies. I was happy when I received the initial ones. But then, trophies started piling up around me. Sooner or later, I understood that these awards are a result of lobbying. One is receiving these awards not necessarily because of their merit. So I started leaving them behind.”

However, in the interview, the actor also confessed that with all due respect, he did attend the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards, the highest civilian awards that were presented to him at the Rashrapathi Bhavan in 1987 and 2003 respectively for his contribution in Indian Cinema. For the unversed, Naseeruddin Shah received Filmfare Awards thrice from 1981 to 1983 for his films Aakrosh, Chakra, and Masoom.
